Showcasing next-wave of digital storytelling innovation at the India AI Impact Summit 2026

Kuku unveiled India's first AI-generated microdrama experience at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted in New Delhi. The showcase at the WAVES Creators' Corner, run in association with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and NFDC, demonstrated how AI now spans the entire production stack – script, dialogue, visuals, post‑production, and marketing assets – and is empowering 50,000+ creators on the Kuku platform.

Kuku’s microdrama slate is a fully produced, AI‑native content format. Every layer of the production stack, from scriptwriting and dialogue to visual composition and final edit, is designed through generative AI without any dependency on traditional studio infrastructure.

The slate spans mytho-inspired storytelling, futuristic fiction, and superhero narratives rooted in Indian themes and designed to appeal globally. For the 50,000+ creators on the Kuku platform, this raises the scope and scale of what creators can bring to life.

  • Production runs across multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali.
  • The entire pipeline removes traditional bottlenecks between a creator’s idea and its audience, enabling a story conceived today to reach diverse audiences in the same release cycle.
  • Creators on the platform can move from title ideation to structured screenplays, generate cinematic poster assets, and produce dialogue variations at a speed that legacy workflows are not built to support.

Why this matters

India's regional language creator economy has the storytelling depth to compete globally in the microdrama market, but production economics and language fragmentation meant that the full potential of the opportunity had yet to be unleashed.

Kuku’s AI-native pipeline brings costs and timelines down dramatically – for instance, from about ₹1 crore and 3–6 months to roughly ₹20 lakh and about a week for a short film – which means the economic case for regional-language content at scale is no longer a question. The infrastructure to meet that demand, at quality and at volume, now exists.

The vision behind the AI‑native shift

Kuku Co-founder and CEO Lal Chand Bisu covered the full arc of Kuku’s journey during a fireside chat with YourStory Founder & CEO Shradha Sharma at the Summit. From its roots in regional audio to its emergence as India's leading AI‑native storytelling platform, Bisu spoke at length about the opportunity ahead, the role of AI in reshaping content economics, and what it will take for India to lead the next decade of entertainment.

Key themes from the session:

  • AI as the great equaliser
Generative AI makes it possible to produce stories in local languages at premium quality and a fraction of historical cost and time. The economic barrier that kept regional languages underserved in premium content is no longer structural.
  • Bharat's moment in premium entertainment
Bisu made the case that the next ten years of Indian entertainment will be won in local languages, and that most of the industry is still underestimating how fast this shift is moving. He asserted that when premium content is built for audiences in their own languages and preferences, they are willing to pay, and Kuku’s traction reflects that shift.
  • Human and AI as co-creators
Kuku’s model is built on the conviction that AI serves as a creative enabler that empowers creators who bring cultural nuance, emotional texture, and narrative instinct. The platform's tools are designed to improve production agility and personalization, raising the ceiling for creators, not replace them.
  • Building for Bharat
A significant share of Kuku’s creator base comes from tier‑2 and tier‑3 India, and the company has built AI tools across the workflow enabling them to move faster.
  • What comes next
Bisu signalled an ambitious pipeline of AI-native formats to scale output from hundreds to potentially 1,000 “proper movies” a month over the next two years.
